What is Nostr?

Nostr (Notes and Other Stuff Transmitted by Relays) is a simple, open, decentralized social protocol. It distributes data through a public/private key identity system and Relay servers instead of relying on centralized platforms.

Core Features

  • Decentralized: No Single Point of Control
  • Public/Private Key Identity: No Registration Required
  • Censorship Resistant: Data Distributed Across Multiple Relays
  • Simple Protocol:Easy to Develop and Expand

Core Components

  • Client:Applications Used by Users,Such as Social Apps、Chat Tools, etc.
  • Relay:Responsible for Storing and Forwarding Data
  • Event:Content Published by Users, Such as Messages, Posts, and Notifications

How It Works

Users sign messages with their private keys and then send the messages to one or more Relays. Other users retrieve the data from Relays and verify the signatures to ensure authenticity.

Process: User Creates Content → Signs with Private Key → Publishes to Relay → Other Clients Retrieve and Display

Identity Mechanism

Nostr Uses Public/Private Keys as the Identity System:

  • Public Key: User's Public Identity, Similar to a Username
  • Private Key: User's Exclusive Control Authority Used for Signing

No Email or Phone Number Required, Truly Enabling 'Accountless Login'.
